Nature of Job

Requirement of Driving License and its Procedure

There are almost 36 countries across the world that have been certified and are on the approved list of Emirates due to their high standard of driving. Residents of such countries can easily transfer to UAE license without any training or test. However, if a person does not hold the license from those countries, the proper training from an authorized school or training institute is required for obtaining a license.
To get an eye test done is the first and most important step while applying for the driving test. Eye test has to be done by an authorized optician or the driving school itself. Then the procedure asks for the driving test application to be typed in Arabic. Submission of form and further procedures are carried out under the supervision of RTA (Roads and Transport Authority).

Driving Test

The driving test constitutes of two parts i.e. the theory section and practical test. In order to pass the theory section, the candidate is provided with a questionnaire. In the first section of the questionnaire, the questions are normally focused on general traffic situations and out of 17 questions, the candidate has to provide correct answers for at least11 to proceed. The second section of the questionnaire contains 18 questions that are specifically related to the particular license and out of those 18 questions, at least 12 questions are required to be replied correctly. This leads to the second part (practical part) of the driving test i.e. road test. The road test costs AED 200, and certain documents are required to appear for the road test. The driver is given a few minutes to demonstrate his or her driving skills and anticipatory skills. If the test is successfully passed, the driver may collect the approval paper from the next counter i.e. the pass counter. However, if the candidate has failed the test, he/she has to register for further 7 classes or training sessions to get another date for another road test.
